Memory Lane Monday #2 ~ Twilight and New Moon

Memory Lane Monday is a feature that is hosted by
Amber at Paradise of Pages
and
Kristalyn at The Sarcastic Palmtree

Amber and I have been talking about wanting to re-read some of our favorite books and how we feel like we never have time trying to keep up with the latest and greatest books for our blogs.  So, we came up with a great plan, let's start our own meme and get everyone else joining in on the re-reading fun as well!  We are, of course, still planning to keep up with current reads but we are intertwining old favorites at the same time.

Here's how Memory Lane Monday will work:

  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  • The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able use to link your posts for us and everyone else to see as well. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to both hosts on your post.

We hope you enjoy doing this meme as much as I am sure we will!

This week I read
Twilight (Twilight, #1)
You can see my Memory Lane thoughts from before I read Twilight  this week HERE

This week's Memory Lane Reread Review

Twilight

I really enjoyed reading Twilight again.  It really was like a trip down memory lane for me.  It has been so long since I read the book vs. just watching the movie and you give up so much that way.
I actually found myself laughing several times while reading. Edward and Bella can both be quite clever when they are trying to tease one another and I also loved them chiming in with their sarcastic comments from time to time.

I forgot how much time Bella spends swooning over Edward's good looks in the book.  It was actually somewhat annoying this time around, probably because I love Edward for more than his pretty face.  I love how he treats Bella and that he's really in love with her. I don't ever get tired of his character in the books and I would like to note that I do not picture Edward to look like he does in the movie at all while I'm reading.

I was frustrated at the amount of time I had to read this week.  I wanted to keep reading but my chores got in the way!  Even my bedtime reading was cut short due to the fact I have been so tired.

I am really excited to continue with New Moon this week, but before I start into my pre-read thoughts, I wanted to share a favorite quote from Twilight:

"If I could dream at all, it would be about you."
~ Edward Cullen in Twilight

New Moon (Twilight, #2)I knew we were both in mortal danger.

Still, in that instant I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin.

It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect - not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place.

For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

The Memories...

Honestly, after reading that description just now I have one thing to say: "Vague much?"  Holy cow!  The first time I read this series, New Moon was my least favorite book of the series.  The second time through (I reread the first 3 books in preparation for the release of Breaking Dawn) I enjoyed it much more. I suppose knowing things were going to end up okay helped a bit.

The end segment when they are in Italy is actually one of my favorite events in the whole series. As much as I love Edward, I really enjoy Jacob and I am really looking forward to getting back to having him as a regular on the pages.

New Moon isn't as light as some of the other books due to the fact that Bella is telling the story and she is, of course, not happy with the fact that Edward has left her.  I am really excited to see where New Moon takes me this time around.  I don't remember details very easily (I guess that comes with getting older) so rereads are always exciting for me.  I look forward to spending some quality time in Forks with Bella and Jacob this week and also taking a quick trip to Italy to make sure Edward doesn't do something really stupid!

That's it for me this Monday.  I will be back in a week to tell you all my new feelings on New Moon! Let me know what you are up to this week and if you want to join in and read the Twilight series along with Amber and I, or even just pull something else back off of your shelf we would love for you to join in with us on Memory Lane Monday!

  1. That is my favorite quote too within the whole book. My second is "And so the lion fell in love with the lamb..."

  2. Ahhh New Moon. I remember hating that book so much because I found Jacob so dull lol. It's also my least favourite of the movies. I'm such a grump, I know!

    1. I didn't like it the first time I read it. It improved greatly when I started liking Jacob more. You aren't a grump. You are entitled to your opinion! I'm glad you stopped by!
