Guest Post

I’ve always enjoyed reading. I vaguely remember a time when I preferred playing catch or a game of cards, but that soon changed when I discovered the many worlds created by simply opening a book. With that, my passion for writing blossomed.

Both reading and writing go hand in hand and my love for books gave me the desire to write my own stories that I’d daydream about on a daily. As a result, the Blood Crave Series began to formulate in my mind. As a fifteen-year-old girl, I wanted to create a fantasy world unique in its own way.

Of course that meant supernatural beings.

I started with a girl, Dahlia, who always knew she was different. Her qualities unlike any other paved way for a storyline that would introduce many more characters with their own distinctive personalities. There’s sarcastic Dahlia, quirky boy-next-door Sam, cryptic Ava, tough-as-nails Rowan, and Remy the flirt. And in the final book in the series, Sage, we’ve got the lonely and brooding Adam, and of course Sage, the girl running from who she is.

Over time, I’ve come to understand myself more as a writer. I’m more character-driven and I like conflict between characters. But I’m secretly an optimist hiding behind a skeptic pessimist, so I strive for happy endings, albeit there might be a few tears shed along the way.

Today is the release day for Sage, the final book in the series. And I’m both sad and glad to conclude this chapter in my writing career. The Blood Crave Series will always have a place in my heart and so I must celebrate! There’s an awesome party going on in the internet-verse with book friends I’ve made along the way participating in my release day blitz and I do want to say thank you.

I promise to open up a bottle of champagne to celebrate!

And what kind of party would it be without a giveaway?

If you head on over to Diva Booknerd, you can check out the Rafflecopter giveaway including books and swag.

And as part of SWAG SEPTEMBER, one of you lucky readers will get a chance to win some of my swag at Paradise of Pages. I want to thank Amber of Paradise of Pages for giving me the opportunity to share my release day with you. I end with an excerpt from Sage.

Enjoy!

Sage had the strangest dream ever.
It was borderline trippy, to be honest. She had no idea if it meant anything or was just the adverse negative reactions to her current situation of Adam shacking up in her room.
It was a collection of scenes. One had Adam in her room sucking the life out of some girl. The blood splattered all over the place freaked her the hell out. It went especially creepy when the bloody “dead” girl looked right at Sage, screaming, “Just give us the key!”
Then there was another scene where she, Remy, and her mother were at the beach. But there were feathers in the sky. As they ran across the sand, thousands and thousands of feathers floated in the air. They all reached their arms out, wishing, praying for one of those feathers to fall.
Then her mind began to play evil tricks over and over again. Like a broken record, she saw the image of her dead mother lying on the floor in her home. An unknown figure stood over her, just a mixture of darks and shadows. He turned, looked straight at Sage, and lunged for her, whispering, “I get to do it all over again with you.”
Waking up, her entire body erupted in tingles and she shivered as if cold, in the process of having an extreme panic attack. She did the only thing any sane person would do to calm her down.
She called Janie.
“What’s up, honey bun? I’m assuming there’s a valid reason why you’re calling me in the middle of the night. Did you win the lottery?”
“Would you still love me if I were going insane?” This was a straight to the point conversation.
It took a beat before Janie spoke again. “Are you being serious or is this a hypothetical question?”
“Janie!” She wiped the sweat that was trickling from her brow, but already feeling better from hearing her friend’s voice.
She chuckled. “I’m sorry. Of course, I’d still love you! I actually think I would prefer crazy Sage.”
“Thanks. I think.” She stuck out her tongue even though there was no one to see except Sunny.
    “Why do you ask?”
She exhaled, shaking her head. Where to begin? “I had the strangest dream ever. Almost like it was trying to tell me something, but I don’t have a clue.”
“Hmm…” Sage could practically hear Janie formulating an idea in her mind. “Embrace it.”
     “What?”
“Embrace these dreams. They could be the key to your happiness, darling. Listen to them. They might not be telling you something point blank, but your mind knows. It’s something my grandma always said.”
“Okay,” Sage replied slowly. Sometimes she wondered about Janie.
“So tell me why you really bailed tonight.”
She made a face, her thoughts going to Adam.
“Just an unexpected visitor,” she managed to say without groaning.
“A visitor, eh?” Janie’s voice perked up. “I bet it was a guy.”
Sage rolled her eyes. “Come on, Janie.”
“Ha!” she said triumphantly. Sage could picture her grinning from ear to ear. “It was a guy. Is he hot? Of course he’s hot. He’s your secret lover.”
“He is not my secret lover. He is not my secret anything,” Sage said heatedly. Her eyes went toward her bedroom door and she breathed a sigh of relief when it didn’t open. Looking around the living room, she humphed. She’d admit it, she was slightly happy for the change in subject. Slightly.      “You’re crazy if you think I’m going to have anything to do with that guy. He’s almost … emo.”
“Emo?” Janie laughed. “I definitely want to know more about emo boy in the morning. And now I’m the crazy one? Maybe your dreams are telling you to go snog somebody.”
“Stop speaking like Perkins. He’s the Englishman—not you.”
“What can I say? I’m easily influenced.” Her voice became quieter. “Are you feeling better now?”
Janie definitely knew her—the power of distraction.
She grinned softly. “Goodnight, Janie. Thanks.”
Janie let out another chuckle. “Anytime, love.”

Blood Crave Series

Dahlia

Dahlia is an introvert, hides away from others, and prefers her own company. With no recollection of her life before the age of five, the majority of her days spent in and out of orphanages, and being thrown away by foster parents who no longer want her because she's strange, she's had reason to be.

Fast-forward and Dahlia is living with a foster family that appears to actually want her. Things are finally normal. But that is short-lived when her past catches up with her: forgotten memories return via dreams, her new mind reading abilities, and a strange thirst for ... blood? Now with the appearance of a mysterious guy who she can't take her mind off of, and suddenly number one on a supernatural hit list, she realizes everything that's been going on in her life is nothing compared to the fact that she's not even human.

Fallen Tears

We left off from Dahlia with only a name--a name that is the next piece to the puzzle. A name that will eventually, "lead us to him." But before we delve into the continuation of the Blood Crave Series, let's answer the question that's been on all our minds.

Who is Rowan?

This 21,000 word novella answers that question, and of how Rowan has come to know the vampire with pitch-black eyes.

Rowan

Dark. Night. Death.

Things Rowan has been trying to avoid for the many years since she was first turned. Her choice: to sleep away the darkness; it beats having to deal with the craziness of life. Or rather, death. However soon after awakening, she stumbles upon a lone figure whose presence is shrouded with mystery.

She assists him in his search for answers making it even more difficult for Rowan to forget her past. She realizes she can’t hide forever as she is literally being sucked back into her chaotic world: a world where both fallen angels and vampires exist, manifested on earth as lapsus and lamia.

Not particularly … friendly with one another.

Rowan struggles to resist her hunger as a demon vampire while dealing with unwanted desires for a fallen angel from the past: a relationship that could only spell trouble. Not to mention the unresolved feelings she still has for a loved one from long ago.

While all of this is happening, they must all seek the hidden evil that hunts them—for there’s an ancient fighting to wake up and destroy everything Rowan holds dear.

Sage

"I know that—what we are. But why do you hate me?"

Escape.

It was the only word pounding through fallen angel Sage Cross' mind when her world came crashing in. Fallon was nothing but a painful memory, something she wanted—no, needed—to forget.

Now she has a chance to let that part of her past go and be in a place where she can finally heal. A place where lamia and lapsus don't exist and she can just be ... Sage. But of course, it doesn't last.

Nothing ever lasts.

Her happily mediocre life with her cat familiar, Sunny, and best friends, Janie and Perkins, is nothing but a mirage. Especially when a brooding vampire—first name Adam, last name irrelevant—takes roots in her life. Someone who hates her for simply existing, yet she is unable to get him out of her mind.

Or her heart.

With her brother and friends in danger, Sage is the key to either ending it all or causing the destruction of not one, but two supernatural beings.

Fallen angels. Lapsus.
Vampires. Lamia.
Who will survive?

Sage, the final installment in the Blood Crave Series.

Those Four Letter Words

Eighteen-year-old Jade Reamer is a tough girl with a reputation to prove it. She loves three people and three people only: her brother, her boyfriend, and her best friend. Everyone else is irrelevant.

That is … until Reed enters the picture again.

Suddenly things start to spiral out of control and things aren’t as they seem. Life is no longer simply black and white, love versus hate. Suddenly, it’s hard to figure out which of those four letter words is true.

Especially when she can’t look away from those devil eyes.

I love you. I hate you. I love you. I hate you. Which is it? I don’t even know anymore.

Well, let’s find out.

Reap

Foreign, or rather unfamiliar, would be the word I would use to describe how I felt.

Faintly, I could hear the glimmer of voices surrounding me in this dark haze, caressing my ears like skin against silk. I felt like I was in a cocoon of sorts, protectively enveloped, quietly drifting in some far-off place. I wanted to stay that way forever.

But we all know that what you want never really seems to happen in the real world.

Something’s not right in Mia’s head.

The first thing is that her name isn’t Mia. In fact, she has no clue what her name is—who she is. All that she knows is that she’s not like the ones who found her: Dante with his kind blue eyes, Amy with her child-like demeanor, James with his questioning gaze.

And Briggs.

The one she cannot decipher no matter how hard she tries.

As Mia tries to fit in with these people, a strange occurrence is amidst outside. And as she finally remembers who she is …

Well, let’s just say that things get a little more complicated.
